Friday, April 12, 2013:

Class Activities:
-Turn in your literary terms slides (with your rubric attached to the front) and your reading responses!

-Review the Range Finder Essays!

-Today we will cover the Prose and the Open-ended question sections of the AP exam.

-Two groups:
            -Go to the Moodle Site
            -Look at the Prose and Open-ended question PowerPoints
-You will have 30 minutes to read the PowerPoints and discuss the key information with your group.
-You will write the important information on poster paper.
-Make sure you know the material because you will be responsible for teaching the other group your information.
-When one group presents their information, the other group will be taking notes. Then vice-versa.
-Every person must work on and present some part of the information!

*You will be graded on the amount of work you do in the group and how your group presents the information. (Will be worth 30 points)




Wednesday, April 10, 2013:

Class Activities:
-Turn in Range Finder essays

-Review Mult. Choice exam

-Use the rest of class to work on your literary terms master list OR your reading responses.

*Remember: Your reading responses and your literary terms master list slides will be due: FRIDAY, APRIL 12, 2013!

*Bring in a printed copy of your master list slides in the ‘handout’ format. This just means that you will have 6 slides on a page. Have your literary terms master list slide rubric attached to the front of your slides.



Monday, April 8, 2013:

Class Activities:


-Have your notes from the week on your desk for me to come by and check.

-Also, have your Range Finder essays ready for me to pick up. (Stapled/ Paper clipped/ with your name at the top)

-Look over T-W terms. (5 min)

- Literary Terms Quiz (T-W) (10-15 min)

-Trade Papers and grade.

-I will pass out the Mock AP Mult. Choice Exam. (For those of you who took the mock exam already, you may work on your literary terms master list OR your reading responses.) (60 min)

*Remember: Your 9 AP reading responses and your literary terms master list slides are due: FRIDAY, APRIL 12, 2013 at the beginning of class.

Class Activities:
-Reminder: Literary Terms Quiz (T-W) will be Monday, April 8, 2013.

-Hand in reading responses if you have finished any of them.

-Go over the Poetry section of the AP exam.
            -ARTWARS

-I will pass around poetry responses that received a 1 and responses that received a 9. We will discuss what the responses lack and what they did well.
Take out your poetry responses please!
            -Mr. Lapalme will discuss what AP looks for in responses.

-I will pass out previous responses and it will be your job to put the responses in order from a 2 to an 8. You are the judge of these essays.

-If there is time left, then you must use this time to work on your literary terms master list assignment or your reading responses. *Remember, you have 11 responses due!*

Homework:
-Arrange the 'Range Finder' essays in order from a score of 2 to a score of 8. Make your judgement according to the rubric and the prompt you received in class. 
-Study for your Literary Terms quiz on Monday!

I will hand them back so you may use them to study for the AP exam. So keep up with your notes. If you think you will lose the notes before the next class, I will keep them in a folder for you.

Class Activities:

-Watched "To This Day" activity. 
-Basics of Writing SMARTBoard presentation.
-Mini-assignment: Went to the Writer's Block link and typed five different strategies to help you get through writer's block. Copied and pasted these strategies on the blog for credit.
-Turned in one source from the AVL website on a notecard. This was an in-class grade for ten points.


Homework:

-*For Thursday, you must find two secondary sources for your paper. (The text itself cannot be one of these two sources.)
*One source must be from an AVL database like the one we looked at today. The other source must be a book from the library. 
*RELEVANT SOURCES / EVIDENCE 
*Your two sources must be physically brought to class on Thursday along with a typed, MLA format Works Cited page. I will take your works cited paper at the beginning of class, so have them ready to hand to me. I will not allow you to print them off before class. Come prepared.

        1. A 40 minute AP handwritten response on the poet presentations from class  
         today. (Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, William
         Blake)  DO NOT USE THE INTERNET. THIS SHOULD BE YOUR OWN           
         WORK.
OR
        2. Write your own sonnet!!!
         A stylistic imitation of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's sonnet "How Do I Love     
        Thee". Use the first line of her sonnet then make up the remaining thirteen
         lines yourself! It must have a set rhyme scheme. It must be written in iambic
         pentameter. The sonnet must have a distinct turn. 

OR
       3. A 40 minute AP handwritten response on William Blake's two "Chimney
        Sweeper" poems. Respond by comparing and contrasting the speaker's
        condition in the poem. Figure out what the speaker's condition is. No
        internet.

-If you presented today, your paper will be due: Friday, February 8, 2013.
-Your paper should be about 1,000 words or 3 pages long.
