These students have been absolutely wonderful. I am so thankful to have spent this past semester, their last semester at Daphne High, with them! They made me cry.

No Texting While Driving
Take a second and think.
Think about all of the lives that would be effected if you caused an accident because you could not wait to answer a text...It can wait.
Don't take your life or anyone else's for granted.
ANTI-BULLYING CAMPAIGN
Recent headlines of school shootings, teen suicides and rising youth crimes and violence underscore the fact that bullying – both on and off campus – can no longer be accepted as a normal part of childhood. Research has clearly linked bullying to later criminal behavior and crime victimization, as well as weapons on campus, mental illness and substance abuse.
Baldwin County high school and middle school students are invited to participate in a STOP the BULLYING outreach program designed to change the culture of acceptance and show that bullying must not be tolerated. The program is co‐sponsored by the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office and the Baldwin County Board of Education.
Students are encouraged to create a video to illustrate the song, “You Had to Pick on Me,” by country singer/songwriter Matt Kennon. Students may create the videos individually or as part of a group. Music videos must be submitted by noon Monday,March 4.*
Winning videos will be selected from two middle schools and two high schools, each of which will receive a free concert by Kennon and inspirational speaker Troy McClain. The hour‐and‐a‐half assemblies will take place Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15.
Remembering Crime Victims
Children and teachers shot down in an elementary school, movie‐goers executed in a theater, young boys sexually assaulted by a college football coach … the list goes on and on. Over the past year, high‐profile crimes have highlighted the plight of crime victims throughout the United States. On a local level, one need not look far to see the impact of serious and violent crime on children, families, friends and colleagues.
In a National Crime Victims’ Rights project sponsored by the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office and VOCAL Gulf Coast, middle school and high school students are invited to produce 1‐minute video Public Service Announcements (PSAs) to remember and honor crime victims. Video PSAs must be submitted no later than noon Thursday, April 4.*
Winning video PSAs will be aired on local TV stations and promoted in social media and throughout the community. Students, parents and teachers will be invited to a premiere of the PSAs followed by a candlelight vigil on Tuesday, April 23 at the Five Rivers Delta Resource Center in Spanish Fort.
*Release forms must be signed by parent/guardian of each student in video

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!!!
Mr. LaPalme has Girl Scout cookies. He will be selling them before school. If you would like to buy any boxes, please let Mr. LaPalme know.
Welcome!
Daphne High Students,
Thank you for making me feel welcome in Mr. LaPalme's classroom! I designed this blog for you all to help you keep up with assignments and what you might have missed, especially if you forgot to write down the assignments. I understand that some days you will be absent, so hopefully this blog will help you keep up with what we are doing in the classroom.
I made a tab for each of Mr. LaPalme's classes and for 12th grade AP, I have a tab for each of the classes labeled A and B. Each tab will have assignments listed and homework that you might have missed. This way you will not have to panic if you were not in class or if you were not paying attention in class when the assignments were given. If you have any questions about any assignment requirements you may post your questions under the days assignment and I or Mr. LaPalme will be able to help clarify any misunderstandings.
Also, when you click on the "Valuable Resources" tab, you will find direct links to each of Mr. LaPalme's class Moodle sites. I know you probably already have the Moodle site bookmarked but this might help cut out a few clicks.
Later on this semester, you will be required to post on this blog, under your class tab, once a week. You will blog about what you have learned during the previous week or something important you read or an assignment you enjoyed. These posts will be monitored so make sure that your posts are well thought out, appropriate, and helpful for other students.
I look forward to what this semester will bring.
Thank you,
Ms. Tidwell
